Supporting the 32 Borough Cup

ROOTS. are proud to have been able to support the 32 Borough Cup, a football tournament and future opportunity event run by the sports and social impact charity Grassroots For Good to help reduce gang rivalries and increase opportunities for London's young people.

On the weekend of Saturday, 16th July, we joined Grassroots For Good to speak at Loughborough University's London campus to show a number of London's young people from different boroughs that there are many awesome routes to forge a career in sports using different skills and passion to be successful.

Speaking on all aspects of ROOTS., what being a ROOTSler means and what avenues there are to work in sports, we not only presented in front of a packed auditorium alongside the likes of Netflix and jeweller to the stars A Jewellers, but chatted to the attendees about opportunities available through our network and their dreams beyond becoming professional athletes.

Throughout Saturday's workshop sessions, we also set about working with some of Hackney Wick FC's talented youth players as well as founder, Bobby Kasanga, to shoot interview footage to be used in our upcoming edit deep diving behind the scenes of London's 32 Borough Cup (check back soon, we can't wait for you to see it!).

Following on from Saturday's career workshop was the main event, the 32 Borough Cup football tournament. Teams representing all of London's 32 Boroughs, from Barking to Westminster, descended upon Hackney Marshes for a day of football, fun and most importantly the chance to engage with people from other areas to show that postcode wars have no place in sports or in modern-day London. ROOTS.' involvement on this day was a little different, using a mixture of handheld, stabilised and drone-shot footage we were able to capture content to accompany the emotive interviews recorded on day 1.

Check back soon to see the final edit telling the story of the 32 Borough Cup!
