eSports is finally stepping out of the shadows and into the limelight

Last week the FIA World Rallycross Championship was the latest to announce their own eSports Championship, featuring World RX drivers and top gamers. GCK driver Kevin Abbring was confirmed as the first driver to join the grid, deepening ROOTS.’ interest in the gaming world as we monitor and develop commercial and marketing strategies for our clients.


While the coronavirus pandemic continues to bring massive disruption to almost every form of motorsport, and with championships determined to find a way to keep everyone entertained, eSports has come to the fore and become the most watched and talked about topic in the world of motorsport!


And with F1, Nascar and IndyCar drivers taking part in virtual races, competing against each other and against fans, eSports is now well out of the shadows and into the mainstream.


Often dismissed by sceptics, eSports is finally getting the chance to prove itself. It’s impossible to know what the future holds, but with more drivers, fans and partners taking it seriously than ever before, the opportunity is there for eSports to keep itself firmly in the spotlight.
